the scions of the seventh dawn

  • initially joins because she's eager to see more of the world

  • believes in their goals and ideals, which makes it all the easier to commit herself to their cause

  • forever grateful to minfilia for taking that initial chance on her

  • very fond of all of the scions, but she's closest to thancred (though less so until post 3.0)

  • a willing weapon

haurchefant

  • her homie of homies, bestie of besties

  • profoundly moved by someone who is so ardently kind and endlessly selfless

  • her only resentment lies in feeling like she is always trying to (and forever unable to) pay back his many favors

zephirin

  • initially wary due to his affiliation with the ward and inscrutable personality, she eventually comes to respect and admire him

  • when he catches her collecting a particular job stone from a corpse in the brume, he only asks that she not contribute to the job's notorious stigma

  • when she leaves bodies scattered throughout ishgard anyway, he quietly does what he can to keep her from being implicated (and tugs her aside to remind her of his initial request)

  • she doesn't realize how much she trusts him until she can't trust him at all

grinnaux

  • a case of "despite her better judgement" (so she says)

  • the sun to her moon

paulecrain

  • they share a bond over their similar backgrounds (born into nothing, clawed their way into something through battle prowess alone)

  • as a result, she gravitates towards him during balls and other extravagant events where she otherwise feels out of place

  • both are a little ice-coded, but he's still colder than she could ever hope to be

zenos

  • she might have had more interest if she hadn't already done this sort of thing before

emet-selch

  • the more she learns, the less she likes

azem

  • thinks she's bound by fate because of someone she will never know (even though she isn't)

  • resents them for it anyway

pre-arr
Arcelia was born and raised in the Black Shroud to a woman by the name of [???]. Her upbringing was typical of most Keeper of the Moon tribes in that her tribe followed a matriarchal structure; like the rest of her kin, she followed a largely nocturnal way of life, and learned to wield a bow from the elders of her tribe, as well as her mother. While she wasn't particularly close to her father, she eagerly absorbed his stories of adventure when he made his occasional visits to deliver supplies and engage in trade. She dreamed of eventually leaving the Shroud in order to see more of the world herself.
Shortly before Dalamud fell, Arcelia’s mother caught word of the Jakkya siblings fleeing to a village up in the mountains, and sent her along with them. After the fallout had settled from the Calamity, Arcelia made her way back to the Shroud, only to find the entirety of her village abandoned and in disrepair. With her family presumed dead and no home to return to, Arcelia took up the mantle of mercenary work at 16 years of age; her remarkable skill with a bow kept her employed, and caught the eyes of Mother Miounne and the Archer’s Guild. Eventually, she joined the Adventurer’s Guild, wherein she completed various assignments until she caught the eye of Yda and Papalymo.arr
Though her mercenary work gained her some measure of notoriety within Gridania, Arcelia still spent most of her early adulthood scraping together what little gil she could to make a meager day-to-day living. When Minfilia extended a formal invitation to join the Scions, Arcelia eagerly accepted, enamored with the idea of helping others and the potential to finally see more of the world. Being told she was different — special, courtesy of the Echo — certainly helped, too.
Emboldened with newfound purpose, Arcelia readily completed any and all tasks assigned to her. Slaying primals turned from something daunting into something fun into something sobering; seeing the effects and ramifications of tempering made her realize just how important her blessing was, resolving her all the more to protect those who could not protect themselves.A warrior cannot protect everyone; still, this remained a truth stubbornly ignored despite her return to a bloodsoaked Waking Sands — despite her allies’ sacrifices at the Bloody Banquet. Shaken and embittered by the abrupt loss of her friends, Arcelia became fiercely protective over the few she still had left.It made her all the more touched when an acquaintance turned fast friend offered both her and hers asylum in the snow-cloaked realm of Coerthas.// under construction...
